Matt & James wedding at Northcote Manor
Back in September last year I had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Matt & James at the ever stunning Northcote Manor in Umberleigh. I had an inkling when I met Matt and James for their pre wed shoot a few months before that their day would be full of fun and laughter and it certainly didn't disappoint!
Matt and James' was the second same sex wedding I'd shot in 2015. Ever since the Same Sex Couples Act was passed a couple of years before, I'm hoping there will be many more gay weddings in North Devon as a result.
When I arrived to start my coverage, Matt and James were getting ready in the same suite (they had no concerns about seeing each other beforehand) and the nervous excitement was really starting to kick in. They each had a 'best woman' who were both old university friends of theirs, getting ready alongside them.
Matt and James were both led up the aisle by their parents which was a nice way to start the ceremony. After the ceremony everyone went outside for some sun and drinks to congratulate the newlyweds. I took the boys off to the fabulous countryside view for a few photos, one of the major plus points of Northcote Manor. On a clear day, you can see miles and miles of hills, such a great spot! Then everyone headed inside for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
For the rest of the afternoon Matt, James and their guests just chilled out in the garden and enjoyed the sunshine. I think the photos show what a great day it was and I never needed to look very far to take shots of people having a good time, just what a wedding should be. After the first dance there was still time to go outside again for a few sunset shots.
Matt and James are both lovely people and I had a great time shooting their special day. I wish them both well and all the best for the future!
