Kirsty & Dan - Christmas wedding at Northcote Manor

2013 has been a busy year for me, shooting lots of weddings. I have certainly photographed some very special weddings in the past 12 months and Kirsty and Dan's is right up there with the best of them. What a great way to end the year with a stunning Christmas wedding at the brilliant North Devon wedding venue, Northcote Manor.

The weather we had either side of the 21st was, to put it mildly, horrendous, so I was delighted for Kirsty and Dan when the sun shone on their special day! When Kirsty and Dan booked me for their wedding back in January, I must admit I did have visions of snowy conditions and stormy winter weather to cope with on the day for their photos!

When I arrived at Northcote Manor, Kirsty was in her suite getting hair and make up done along with her bridesmaids Daneille, Emma, Karen, Katie and mum Pat. Around midday, Dan arrived with his best man Wes (his brother) to get ready in a nearby suite, so I went over to get some shots of their preparations too.

When I got back to Kirsty's suite she had just got into her amazing dress and soon after I captured the lovely moment when her Dad Chris saw Kirsty in her dress for the first time. Then it was onto the ceremony, which was held in the Manor's Oak Room and Kirsty's grand entrance. After the emotional vows and the bride and grooms first kiss it was time for their photo shoot in Northcote Manor's scenic grounds. We had all agreed beforehand that we would get some shots of the newlyweds at the area where the bench overlooks the rolling hills. The only problem was after 3 days of heavy rain, the ground to get there was very muddy. So, obviously not wanting to get her shoes ruined, Kirsty was gallantly carried to and from the area by Dan!

Then it was time for the speeches. Best man Wes got out a projector for part of his speech which meant plenty of embarrassing moments for Dan to sit through, including an hilarious video clip that had everyone in stitches, including me. I could hardly hold the camera steady I was laughing so much!

This wedding was so full of emotion and had so much laughter and tears throughout. This was in most part down to the love between Kirsty and Dan which was obvious for all to see. Kirsty and Dan are a lovely couple and I was most pleased to be part of their special day. What a lovely way to wind up the 2013 wedding season!
