Rebecca & Paul, wedding at the Ash Barton Estate

Shooting a wedding at a venue I've never previously worked at is always a very exciting prospect for me. There are plenty of lovely North Devon Wedding venues and I've pretty much shot at every one, but my first visit to the Ash Barton Estate was definitely a good one. Set a couple of miles outside of Braunton, it offers amazing scenery of the surrounding countryside and also offers the bride and groom full exclusive use of the venue for the whole weekend.

​When I arrived, I had a brief stroll around the grounds and sought out a few nice spots for Beccy and Pauls photos later in the day, which I hoped would turn out quite nice...

​Becky was in fine spirits when I arrived for her bridal prep. The whole house was buzzing with all the guests, most of them staying for the entire weekend, giving a very 'homely' feel to the place. They had the ceremony in the old barn which was beautifully lit by hundreds of lightbulbs.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed out to the gardens for a few group photos and a celebration drink, swiftly followed by a couple of bride and groom photos before the wedding meal. Becky and Paul both wanted the whole day to be more like a relaxed and laid-back celebration rather than a typically traditional wedding day, so lots of the 'normal wedding formalities' were set aside for the day, which made for a nice change.

​After some amazing line dancing, I suggested we go outside for a few night shots which turned out really nicely (I reckon!!)

I hope to work at Ash Barton again and can wholeheartedly recommend the venue for those looking for a tranquil countryside setting. I wish Beccy and Paul all the very best in their married life together.
