Coral & Nick Wedding, Northcote Manor
I have got so many recent weddings and other shoots to blog which I'll write up and post soon I promise. However, this is the last wedding I'll be blogging from the 2014 season and it was certainly one of the best ones too!
I first met Coral at a wedding fair and was delighted when she contacted me a few weeks later to arrange another meeting and book me. I was also pleased they would be spending the afternoon and evening part of their day at the fabulous Northcote Manor, one of my favourite venues in North Devon for sure.
When I arrived at Coral's Parents house in Braunton for the bridal prep, the house was a real hive of activity. Coral's dad Pete also shoots weddings, so there was a bit of added pressure for me to perform well on the day! I needn't have worried, as everyone was so welcoming and friendly, it made my job that much easier!
After I'd got some shots of Coral and her bridesmaids getting hair and make up, Coral got into her amazing dress, which signalled me to make the short trip up the road to St Brannocks Church, where I found groom Nick and his best men anxiously waiting.
St Brannocks Church is one of the most picturesque churches in North Devon in my opinion and it offers lots of room for me to move about and capture the ceremony from different angles.
After the ceremony the newlyweds were congratulated outside the church by their family and friends and even had a confetti line. I took the opportunity to get a few family formal shots outside until Coral and Nick got into their wedding car and headed off to Northcote Manor closely followed by friends, family and me...
When I arrived at Northcote Manor I was pleased to see it was as beautiful and tranquil as ever. One of the things I love about this place is the feeling that when you're there, you feel you are really away from civilisation.
I gathered everyone together outside as Coral wanted a photo of all their guests. To make sure I got all the faces in the shot I went up to one of the first floor bedrooms and shot from the window. Then it was time for a few shots of Coral and Nick around the grounds including the famous bench with THAT view, looking great, even on an overcast day.
Then everyone gathered inside to sit down for the wedding breakfast. During the speeches, there was a surprise special guest who made an appearance presenting Coral with a present. He must have got the day off from Top Gear to make it all the way to North Devon!
After Coral and Nick's the first dance, the dance floor quickly filled up and some of the guests really gave it some on the dance floor!
I had an absolute blast shooting this wedding. Everyone, from Coral and Nick through to all the guests were so friendly and full of wedding cheer it made for a pleasurable day's shooting! Some of the photos from this wedding were even displayed in a three page 'Real Wedding' feature in the SouthWest Bride Magazine, it was that good!
