Hannah & Gary wedding Bishops Nympton

Hannah and Gary booked me for their wedding way back in January of 2013, almost a year and a half before their chosen date. Despite the terrible weather we encountered on the day, the long wait for this wedding was well worth it. My day started in High Bickington, where I met with Gary and his best men, Toby and Stu, for a few photos of them with their bikes! What a cool idea, and I wish I could have stayed a bit longer to take some shots of them actually riding the bikes, but I had another appointment to get to.

MK Collins Photography Then it was onto Bishops Nympton for Hannah's bridal prep at her mother's house. When I arrived, Hannah was there getting her make up done along with her bridesmaids, sister Marie, Sadie, Catherine and Harriet as well as flower girls Isobel, Summer and Ella.

Then it was time for Hannah to get into her gorgeous dress and set off in a vintage Rolls for the short trip to the Church where Gary was nervously waiting for his bride. As Hannah entered the church the brilliant string quartet Sorrelli Strings were playing.

After a beautiful service, Hannah wanted to stop off in the village to visit her Grandad who was unable to attend the church service, which I thought was a lovely touch. He was certainly delighted to see the newly weds and looked on with pride as he saw Hannah in her wedding dress for the first time (see below). Then it was time to drive the short distance to the Parish Hall for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment.

After a tasty wedding breakfast it was time for the speeches. Hannah's stepdad Rod said a few words as did best men Stu and Toby. The highlight was a very funny speech by groom Gary where he recalled a TV moment on the sofa between him and Hannah which made everybody laugh including me!

As I mentioned, the weather throughout the day was wet and windy. At around 6 O'clock I noticed a brief dry spell, so we ventured outside to get a few bride and groom photos. After about five minutes we were chased back inside by more rain, oh well!

Hannah and Gary made a canvas of their favourite photo from their engagement session I shot earlier this year on Saunton Beach and got all the guests to sign it. What a lovely keepsake of the day!

I was pleased to see Hannah do a bouquet toss to all the single ladies in the room. It is a shame this age old wedding ritual isn't done more often, as it always gets everyone laughing and is a great photo opportunity for me!! One of Hannah's teenage bridesmaids caught the bouquet by the way.

Then it was time for Hannah and Gary to perform their first dance, quickly followed by the band Covered, who got everyone up on the dance floor for the remainder of the night. I understand there is a youtube clip that has since surfaced (via Facebook I think?) of Gary singing Bohemian Rhapsody on stage with the band much later after I'd gone home, which is worth a watch!

Congratulations to the newlyweds for a fantastic and enjoyable wedding day. Despite the weather, everyone had a great time. It was a pleasure to meet such a lovely couple and be a small part of their special day.
