Tracey & Liam wedding, The Park Hotel , Barnstaple

I often get asked a lot of questions about what its like to actually shoot a wedding. I always reply with the same answer. It can be a long day and be quite exhausting, but it is also incredibly rewarding and most importantly, it can be fun.

The wedding of Tracey and Liam certainly rings true to all of the above, especially the fun bit. I realised after I had shot Tracey and Liam's engagement shoot in Rock Park, a stones throw away from the hotel, how the wedding day would pan out. The hotel even laid out the red carpet!

When I arrived at Tracey's bridal preparations she was incredibly laid back getting hair and make up done along with her bridesmaids Kelly, Katie, Sophie and Darcey and mum Dawn.

Tracey and Liam's son Ethan came into the room to get his suit on and Tracey revealed to me a surprise for Liam in the shape of her garter. Liam is a big Arsenal fan (nice one Liam!) and Tracey was going to reveal the garter to him later in the day. Tracey also had another surprise for Liam by reading out a personalised letter from Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger, congratulating Liam on his wedding day. Nice touch Tracey and a tip for all brides out there for their grooms! A way to a man's heart is not food, it's football!

Meanwhile, in the bar the guests were gathering for the ceremony along with Liam's brother and best man Shaun and groomsmen Ashley, Josh and David.

When the happy couple first laid eyes on each other in the ceremony their nerves must have kicked in as they both started to get uncontrollable giggles. I thought they would be giggling all the way through, but all it did was completely lighten the mood and made everyone relax. Liam even forgot his name when the registrar asked him to confirm who he was which made the whole room crack up with laughter!

The garter reveal..... Nobody realised Liam would end up wearing it...on his head!

No, this isn't an out take. I sometimes ask/trick a group for the very first group photo to pull a face to lighten the mood. Sometimes it works, sometimes it really works, like this shot.

Barnstaple Wedding

Over to Rock Park for a photo shoot. I have to say, I have never and perhaps never will do again a shoot of a bride and groom in a children's playground! But in typical fashion Tracey and Liam where game for a laugh.

I hope the photos in this blog convey the fun and laughter of Tracey and Liam's wedding. It was so much fun to shoot and I wish the newly weds all the best in their married life together.
