Beccy & Martin Wedding at Ocean Kave
After shooting Beccy and Martin's wedding I came to a conclusion. If this is what life is like living and working on a cruise ship for 3 months at a time, I feel I may have missed out, big time!
Beccy and Martin actually met whilst working on board a cruise ship. Both of them worked in the ship's entertainment side with Beccy being a compare and Martin working backstage in audio production etc. They ingeniously decided to 'theme' their wedding on being on board a cruise ship! I love weddings like this that try and be a little different from the norm and it definitely worked for me.
So much thought and planning went into organising the wedding, so kudos to Beccy and Martin for pulling it off in style! My day started off covering Beccy and her bridal party getting ready at the Ocean Kave bridal suite, Royal Celerity. Everyone was in great spirits, definitely a sign of things to come. A lot of the guests were also friends who worked as entertainers on cruise ships, so there was a real sense building up for a show rather than a wedding, but as I keep saying, it just worked! I chatted to one guest who said he had just finished a three month term on a Mediterranean cruise and had docked in Southampton in the early hours the night before and drove straight to Ocean Kave to attend the wedding.
After the ceremony the guests were treated to drinks and canapés on the lawn along with some fairground games which went down well with the guests and some of the younger folk.
Then it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches in the Sunset Rooms. After the speeches it was time for a cabaret! What followed was a succession of routines and acts, the like of which I've never seen at a wedding before, including a freddie Mercury tribute, The Jersey Boys, a conga and the groom in a tutu....I'll let the photos tell the rest......
I genuinely had a great time at Beccy and Martin's wedding, at times I almost forgot I was there to do a job! There was so much to capture throughout the day and Beccy and Martin were a pleasure to work with. All the best guys in your married life together!
