Philippa & Tim, wedding at Muddifords Court Country House, Cullompton
One if the best things I love about my job, apart from sharing in the most special and happiest days of people's lives, is spending the day shooting at some of the finest wedding venues in the South West. Muddifords Court Country House is right up there with the best of them in my opinion. This was the first time I'd ever shot a wedding there and I hope its not the last. You get exclusive use of the whole complex for you and your wedding guests and the scenery for photos is excellent, with the small lake as the centrepiece. The venue is tucked away from a quiet country road and you really get a feeing of 'getting away from it all' when your there.
I met with Philippa and Tim a few months ago at Muddifords Court to chat about their wedding day and even then I was looking forward to shooting their day and it didn't disappoint.
I arrived about half an hour before the ceremony and met up with a slightly nervous Tim who was busy meeting and greeting the guests. I took the opportunity to take a few photos of the site and found a couple of geese with their baby chicks waddling around the lake. As I took the photo the parents got a bit angry with me being too close and hissed at me to keep my distance, which I respectively did. As I headed back to the ceremony room the guests had all taken their seats and were closely followed by Philippa who was escorted down the aisle by her father.
After the ceremony we all headed out for drinks and canapés in the glorious sunshine. I also shot a few group photos and went up to the main house and took a group shot of everyone from the first floor window. As the guests headed back to the main courtyard I took the newly weds for some bride and groom photos in the lovely grounds. When we returned to the courtyard the guests were busy having fun playing giant jenga and coits.
Philippa and Tim very kindly seated me at a table with the guests for the wedding breakfast. As they are both vegetarian, the wedding breakfast was entirely meat-free which was made for a nice change.
After the speeches and cake cutting, the room was transformed for the evening celebrations and the arrival of a Ceilidh band. After a series of group dances I suggested to Philippa and Tim we head outside to catch the sunset for a few photos.
I really enjoyed myself shooting Philippa and Tim's wedding and wish them all the best in their newly married life.
